3D printing articulated model

Project Abstract

The aim of this project was to create a 3D-printing articulated model which does not require assembly after 3D print, such as hands with joints and knuckles or action figures. To achieve this, a generic algorithm had to be developed, that would turn a designer’s 3D-mesh model into an articulated model and 3D-print it without the need of any assemble. Using algorithm to print a non-assembly articulated model, could be revolutionary in the toy figures industry or more importantly for 3D printer users, as it would be a hundred times more efficient than creating it using a 3D computer graphics software.

Using programming and mathematical equations, the primary focus of this project is to develop a posable, articulated model that will not require any kind of assemble, as this could be the key to an efficient prototyping mass production.
